Where Do We Agree With Each Other?

There are I believe a few things that most Republicans can agree on. Some of us believe we need to lower, and not raise taxes. A large number of us would say that government spending must be cut significantly, not expanded. Many of us would say that we want see less abortions, not more. Most of us see that we can win the war against Islamist Radicals, and should not surrender. We all agree that one day of Clinton or Obama is one too many; or do we agree on that?

Lowering taxes is vital to turning around the economic downward trend. It is a principle that Reagan and G.W. Bush saw very clearly in the past. Both of the two remaining candidates believe strongly in lowering taxes. I will also say though the Democratic candidates have said they would raise taxes. America cannot afford to have taxes raised it would be disasters for our economy. Tax hikes even if only on business would send us into at best a recession and at worst a full economic depression. It is our duty as Americans to do everything in our power to help our country, and never do anything harmful to it.

Cutting government spending is also vital to improving our economy over the next twenty plus years. When looking at our economy we cannot just look at the next year or so. We must focus on what will be the best over a generation, and continue to make adjustments in that direction every year. Right now everyone is focused on a short-term stimulus package that will probably improve the economic growth for about six months maybe a year. Our next president will have to do a lot more than that to make this country better. They need to cut spending drastically over the next four to eight years. Entitlements are the reason for the deficit. How do we cut Social Security and Welfare spending? Well first, we need to hold the line on new entitlements. We must keep Clinton or Obama from passing their healthcare plans. Then we need to find real SS reform. This yes means that we need to wean people away from government reliance for income. Sen. McCain voted No State Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) reauthorization that is the one President Bush vetoed. McCain also voted yes on the Welfare Reform Act of 1996, which took small steps to cut welfare spending (Project Vote Smart). He has also spoken out very strongly against Pork Barrel spending he has never added Pork to any bill. He has also vowed to veto any bill that has Pork in it, and he makes it a habit never to promise things he will not do.

The number of abortions in this country needs to be lower. I would like to see a day when there are no abortions. Clinton and Obama both say they will fight for a women’s right to choose. You cannot choose to commit murder in this country without consequences; what makes abortion any different? Sen. McCain has voted many times for restrictions on abortion, and has said many times he would appoint strict Constructionist Judges. Clinton and Obama would appoint Judges that would use foreign law and a “Living Constitution.” This would take a minimum of twenty years to fix possibly more than fifty. Does that really sound good to you? It does not sound at all acceptable to me.

The war on Islamist Terrorist as hard as it has been on our military can be, and must be won. Most conservatives can agree this one area. This is one area John McCain will stand stronger than any of the candidates are. He was right when he said we needed to send more troops to Iraq. Now we must stay and at minimum allow a Western-indifferent government to succeed. We must take the fight to Terrorists where they are including Osama Bin laden. We do not have the choice as the Democrats think of surrendering with honor, and talking to Islamists about our differences. The Islamist Terrorists want every non-Muslim dead. They will not live in peace with the rest of the world until Sharia law is everywhere. This is something that John McCain knows; he will never be ready to surrender to the terrorists. This is the most important issue that we have faced in the past fifty years. Yet some people are talking about “sitting out” this election, or even worse casting a vote for one of the Democrats over John McCain.

I was going to try to keep this nice, but I have to say this if you cast a vote for someone other than John McCain hoping for political gain in 2012 you are the worst kind of traitor there has ever been. Your children’s children will suffer the consequences of your actions. I plead with you not to be so foolish as to punish your children, because you do not agree with a candidate on every issue. If you think, Reagan would be proud of you for not abandoning your conservative principles by not voting you are very wrong. In 1976, Reagan campaigned for Gerald Ford knowing that the consequences would not be good if Carter won. Think about how much higher the stakes are in the upcoming election. He would not want us to abandon the brilliant conservative principles that have made this country great. He would ask you to use your common sense and work hard to elect John McCain, and to work hard to balance congress by electing conservative Congressmen across the country.

Fight For The Conservative Movement!

Tuesday was arguably the most important day in political history of the last twenty years. I say this because two major historical events occurred yesterday. Twenty-four states voted in primaries, caucuses, and one state convention. The second event was John McCain, and Mike Huckabee showed that money can not buy an election. This is not to say Mitt Romney is not a decent candidate, but the fact is that with far less money John McCain, and Mike Huckabee won several states. The important lessons from the primary process are that we do not want a national primary. We do not want talk radio to completely condemn any candidate. We do not want primary process that splits the Republican Party beyond repair.

We as a Republican Party can not afford to have a national primary, because it would make it impossible for us to get the candidate we want. Looking at it logically if we had a national primary on January 3 Rudy Giuliani would have won handily. That is obviously not what we the voters wanted or we would have voted that way. It is however what the media wanted. They made it very clear saying he was the “inevitable candidate.” Well though the voting process we proved them wrong an opportunity we would not have had in a national primary. We must take the time to carefully pick the candidate we the people want.

The Party also can not afford Talk Radio completely condemning a candidate, because if that candidate wins the nomination they will have an uphill battle to fight with little or no help from talk radio. Talk radio is a medium that the G.O.P. needs to win general elections. This is not to say that talk radio should only speak positively about all candidates. They should feel free to point out the bad things as well as the good things about the candidates. Radio hosts however should be more careful not to get themselves into situations in which they will not be able to support a candidate in the general election. These people have large audiences that are changing and growing on a daily basis. They have a connection with people that allows them to fill in the blanks on candidates good and bad. It is a responsibility that should not be taken lightly. We need to immediately work to mend the fences that irresponsible people have torn down in fits of rage. People on both sides need to come together in open communication not conceding principles they stand for, but working together to get all the principles of the conservative movement pushed to the forefront. McCain needs to address a few things that he has said and done to snub Talk Radio. In the same manner Talk Radio needs to correct some of the statements they have made about John McCain. It is though this open dialogue that the Republican Party can refocus itself on the important issues of the conservative movement. I strongly hope that as we go though the next few weeks this will begin to happen so we can move our focus to winning the general election.

The final point I will make is something that we have to fix or our Party and the conservative movement will be buried for many years possibly decades to come. We can not continue down the path of tearing apart the factions of the Republican Party. There is no way to win a general election without a majority of the people that make up the three factions of the Party. We must find a way to rejoin these groups really mending the fractures that have been created. We will not find a solution to this problem in one person or even a few, however it must be found in the people of the Party. It must begin at dinner tables across the country one family at a time. From there it needs to spread all the way to the leaders of this once great movement. This movement will become great once again, far greater than it has ever been, but we must begin the process today. We must begin to fight for every town, in every county, in every state in this greatest country in the world.

We as a country can not afford four years, or one day of a liberal Congress and a liberal President. Must I remind you that they will pull out of Iraq causing mass genocide and real danger to America and its allies around the world? They will destroy our military after all; we can talk to terrorists about our differences. They will also socialize healthcare costing us the taxpayers millions probably billions of additional dollars. The list could go on, but I think this is sufficient to encourage me to start the fight in my hometown to begin a peaceful conservative revolution. I will not be focusing on the past my goal is to bring the conservative principles into the future. Never abandoning those principles Reagan communicated so eloquently.

A Conservative Revolution

The time has come for a revolution in the Republican Party! The Party has been progressively moving to the left. Talk radio for all their mentions of Reagan they hail him as their hero. Most of them are completely unwilling to admit that all three of the Republican candidates would adhere to the conservative ideals. John McCain is obviously more conservative than either of the Democratic candidates, and despite what Talk Radio says his record shows he is more conservative than Mitt Romney. Through the primaries the Republican Party is restructuring not leaning more to the Left, but refocusing and leaning more to the Right and deciding how to convey not new liberal ideas but how to refocus and apply the principals of the true conservative movement that Reagan conveyed so well to the American people. The question is not what ideas the Republican Party needs to change, or will change; it is how do we apply, and communicate these wonderful timeless ideas. Right now we have the choice of two men that will fight for these principles John McCain and Mike Huckabee, and one that will adhere to them better than the Democrats Mitt Romney. They are principles worth fighting for and the men who will carry them are worth defending with even more vigor and determination than in the days of our fathers or their fathers.

The principles that Reagan laid out were simple, logical, and yet bold. The first of these was to have a military that no country in the world would ever want to take on; he believed in peace though intimidation. Something the Left would say is not very progressive or kind a thought that sends chills down my spine. Reagan did this despite the attacks made on him for raising spending; he saw how necessary it was to be not one of the most powerful, but the most powerful country in the world.

The second is to limit the size of government; “Nations crumble from within when the citizenry asks of government those things which the citizenry might better provide for itself.” (Ronald Reagan) The Republican Party has lost its way on this one over the last few years, becoming a party of spend everything and ask for more. They are now beginning to move back where they should be, which is spend less and give excess back to the people.

The third is lower taxes, less spending, and less business regulation this is a true economic stimulus package. Tax rebates are economic stimulus for fools, the government borrows money to give to people some who do not even pay taxes then it asks you for that money plus interest later. That only stimulates government’s ability and need to collect more money from citizens in the future. “Government does not tax to get the money it needs; government always finds a need for the money it gets.” (Ronald Reagan) "Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." (Ronald Reagan) He thought things were bad then, and they have only gotten worse in the last twenty years.

The fourth issue Reagan said we needed to tackle is abortion. His thoughts on this "I've noticed that everybody that is for abortion has already been born." This is one of my favorite Reagan quotes for the wit, and pure logic of it. Now to the meat of the issue I will say this once and I want everyone to understand. We need ONE more Supreme Court justice to overturn Roe v. Wade; in the next four years at least one of the current justices will retire or die. If we fail to win this November abortion will be the law of the land for another twenty years states will not be allowed to enforce their own abortion laws. Is it really worth risking millions more slaughtered to prove a point?

The important thing is not voting for your choice now and sitting out in November if he loses which Rush Limbaugh, and others said they would do. It is fighting to help your candidate win and admitting defeat graciously if he looses, and then going out the day after the convention to make sure that the Conservative movement wins in November. It is not just a matter of enduring another four years of the Clintons in the White House; it may very well be a matter of having a country to leave for your children. Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction. We did not pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.” Take these wise words to heart, follow in Reagan’s legacy and continue to fight for the Conservative Movement, so that our children and their children can fight for and protect freedom.

How Mike Huckabee Can Win the Republican Nomination.

A few things I think Mike Huckabee needs to do to win the Republican nomination. First he needs to maintain a clear lead in the Iowa polls. He needs to maintain his new strength in the national polls being tied with Guiliani is much bigger than people think. He needs to stay true to his word; he has shown great success by telling people honestly what he thinks. Finally I think he needs to continue leading his campaign staff, this is something I noticed from the beginning.

Huckabees lead in Iowa is no accident he has made that his primary goal, it is the same strategy Mitt Romney is using. I say the same strategy really it isn’t; they both wanted good showings in Iowa they have however chosen two very different paths to that end goal. Romney has spent millions of dollars there mostly airing television ads negative or not it makes little difference. People want to see and hear candidates give them straight forward answers to there questions this is what Mike Huckabee does better in my opinion than any of the other candidates on either side. To maintain his lead what he needs to do is continue to talk to as many voters in Iowa as possible, which he has been doing very well. I would set this goal for the Huckabee campaign forty to fifty percent in Iowa polls, with a ten to fifteen point lead over the next candidate the week of the Iowa caucus. I think this would be the best for two reasons first Iowa is very fluid you want to start as far ahead as possible, second because that big of a lead in Iowa would very likely thrust him into a clear lead in national polls.

Weather he is the clear national frontrunner doesn’t really matter as long as he stays tied or very close to Giuliani. Obviously a lead in national polls would make things much easier than if he is only close to first. Staying close in the national polls is important because it eliminates Huckabee’s biggest flaw, which is until recently he hasn’t been able to convince people he can get elected. That was my first fear when I decided my Christian morals would not allow me to vote for any candidate over Huckabee; don’t get me wrong when it comes to the general election I am sure that any of the Republican candidates are better for me than the Democrats. For me abortion is the second most important issue the first would be the war on terrorists Mike Huckabee is strong on both, and clearly the strongest of any candidate on the right to life.

Staying true to his word seems to come naturally to Huckabee; two reasons for this also he was raised by good parents who taught him there was consequences for not honoring his word. The second is he has seen how American voters appreciate this from their leaders, he won reelection in Arkansas by doing what he said he would when he had the opportunity. The American people seem to want someone who they trust even if they don’t agree one hundred percent with all their stances. A few things I would focus on if I were Huckabee. Making sure people know he was governor of Arkansas for two terms plus two and a half years and Lieutenant Governor before that. That he supports the "fair tax", but would cut taxes and spending even if he could not get the "fair tax" through. I think the "fair tax" is best but probably won’t catch on fast enough for Huckabee. Continue to tell people about his strong stance on national security, national defense, and immigration enforcement. He also needs to tell people more about his unique ideas about health care, that he doesn’t support a socialist heath care plan. Nothing makes it easier for voters to see whom you really are then talking with them face to face, and Huckabee has done that and needs to continue.

He has been clearly leading his campaign staff from the start not to say that he doesn’t have good people around him, but he doesn’t do what his staff tells him to if he doesn’t believe it to be true. I also don’t want to sound like I am hitting the rest of the republicans unfairly. Mitt Romny gave a speech just last week that his staff has been against from the start, but really I don’t think there is some grand conspiracy to keep him out of the White House because he holds slightly different religious beliefs than some. John McCain is a man who I think holds great principles he will not stray from. Even Rudy Giuliani has issues he stands strong on, and should be commended for. I simply think that Mike Huckabee has clear control over his campaign, and his staff is there to advise him but not to lead him. His leadership abilities are overwhelmingly apparent in almost every thing he does.

I think despite having other good candidates the best candidate for me; and maybe the rest of the country is Mike Huckabee. He has an uniting quality and I think that is what this country needs in its time of change. No one is really sure exactly what Americans are looking for in their next leader, but I have a feeling that it is not what the media is expecting. No one knew how we would respond to attacks on this country till it happened, and the result was for a time the people of this great country stood up as one. I think this is what we need in this country again; I personally am getting sick of all the partisan politics. I think Republicans and Democrats both need to stop fighting against each other, and start fighting for the people again.

My Respnse to Robert Novak's "The False Conservative"

What is it Mr. Novak that frightens you about Mike Huckabee? I tried to figure out what you were trying to say in your article The False Conservative; it does not seem to add up. Here are ten reasons I think you might be scared of him.

  1. Is it that he is a strong Christian?
  2. Is it the fact that his convictions haven’t changed to fit what is popular at the time?
  3. Is it that he is wholeheartedly pro-life?
  4. Is it that he is against gay marriage?
  5. Is it that he is not the "establishment" candidate?
  6. Is it that he gives real answers to questions?
  7. Is it that he understands and supports our second amendment right to bear arms?
  8. Is it that he signed the Americans for Tax Reform pledge for no new taxes?
  9. Is it that he isn’t afraid to talk about a better tax system?
  10. Maybe it is the simple fact that he will talk to ordinary people. Is that what scares you?

That does not look like someone you should be scared of Mr. Novak. It looks like my view of a good republican candidate.

 

What would you consider a true conservative?

 

  1. Someone who is pro choice? (Thompson, Giuliani)
  2. Someone who haven’t signed the AFTR pledge?(Thompson, Giuliani)
  3. Someone who wants to outlaw guns? (Giuliani)
  4. Someone who wants to allow gay marriage? (Giuliani)
  5. Someone who has run left of Ted Kennedy? (Romney)
  6. Someone who changes the convictions just in time to run for president? (Romney)
  7. Or maybe it is someone who wants to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory? (Paul)

I see some less than conservative republicans, and Fred Thompson who has not given a clear picture of what he stands for. What is it that you see Mr. Novak?

Don't Be a Sucker Give Hope Another Chance!

Don’t be suckered into voting for Giuliani to beat Clinton. We tried running a moderate against a Clinton once all ready. Do you remember how that went? I was recently reminded it was Bob Dole remember the guy that ended up doing Viagra commercials. I guess if you are my age or younger you may not remember the lessons republicans should have learned. If you run a moderate against a Clinton, the Clinton will win. Republicans have lost their way many times lately, they need to be pulled back on track. No don’t start with third party talks. Please understand I am all for a third party just as long as they are running left of Hillary.

Please don’t be suckered into voting for Romney to beat Giuliani one is no better than the other. Yes I know that takes out both of the “Republican chances" to win. Yeah well not really our hope lies with Mike Huckabee. Yes a Baptist minister from none other than Hope Arkansas. It scares me a little to say Hope Arkansas, I am assuming you know what other president came from Hope. Let me give you a clue, “I did not have…” yes Bill Clinton. However Mike Huckabee is the most conservative candidate I have seen in my remembrance. He seems to be a genuine down to earth guy. He went to school in Arkansas not one of those Ivy League schools. He talks to people not at the people like most politicians do. He is strongly: pro-life, for second amendment rights (he even understands what it means and why it was written), understands the need for change in our tax system (“a complete overhaul” “I favor the fair tax” as he put it.) He also knows that the U.S. must protect itself (which I think is most important right now.)

So why all the third party talks among the conservatives? I personally think it started with the media and worked its way into the conservative circles. Back to my point though what we need to do is put all our support behind a true conservative. Mike Huckabee the best choice for social and fiscal conservative and our best chance to beat Hillary in 2008. Dear, NRLC Here's What I Think!

The following is a letter I sent to the NRLC in response to their lack of judgement. I sent this Thursday 11-15-07 in response to an email I received from them. I decided to post it because I think there are many thousands more like me that were once supporters of NRLC, and because I don’t think the NRLC takes my opinion seriously seeing as they did not even have the decency to respond in a quick email. I would not say that I have given up all hope that they will return to there convictions some day, but I can only hope that day comes before too much damage is done to the right to life movement I care for so much.

 

Dear, National Right To Life Committee

I think you have exhibited very poor judgement in endorsing Fred Thompson. He may be all for over turning Roe V Wade but just last week he stated on TV that he was, always had been, and always would be against a Life amendment to the constitution. He is a Constitutionalist, which is only a good start. He is not even close to being the best candidate on this issue. Mike Huckabee for example has said several times he would do everything in his power to overturn Roe V Wade, and said many times that his pro-life convictions are what made him get into politics. I had been hoping that you would endorse him, there is no doubt in my mind that any of the republicans will be better on several issues than the democrats so I will fall in line in the general election with whoever gets the nomination. This being the primary season we have a choice, we could push forward the best candidate that matches our convictions. I could not with clear conscience vote for Fred Thompson over Mike Huckabee, and I certainly hope that you have made your choice with a clear conscience and not because you think he has the "best chance to win." I don't really understand how you can call yourselves the best pro-life organization in the country and support a candidate that will not support what you said you stand for. It disheartens me greatly to see that the organization that I could align myself with, and trust has now alienated me in such a way.

Seven Questions to Ponder for 2007

7. Where have all the Jefferson Smiths of this country gone? (For those of you who don't know the reference its an old "James (Jimmy) Stewart" movie 1939 "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington")

6. Why does almost every movie today support some kind of left wing radical agenda?

5. When did it become good for men to cry in public? (Don't get me wrong I have shed some tears in the past, but I try to keep them out of public.)

4. When did it become cool for guys to look more like women than like their fathers?

3. Where have all the warriors gone? (I know there are still some in fact I know a few.)

2. Could this country vote someone who went to a Muslim school outside of the U.S. into the office of President? (Barack Obama think about it)
